AMBASSADOR COMPETITION


Interested in becoming the next Parkhill Fall Fair Ambassador? 

Any person between the ages of 17 & 24 (by July 1, 2022) is welcome to enter the Ambassador program. All you have to do to enter is send a written paragraph about yourself to parkhillambassador@gmail.com.  It must include the following:

  • Full name and address

  • Telephone number and email

  • Age and your birthday

  • If attending school, grade and course. If not, grade and course completed, and present occupation.

  • All activities you participate in or have participated in (school, church, community, part-time job, volunteer, 4H, etc.)

  • Please include a recent photo

 

A social event, open to the public, will be held for the contestants at the end of July (Date to be determined).
At this time the contestants will meet the judges, the Fair Ambassador committee, the Junior Ambassador contestants, and the Golden Ambassador contestants.

On this evening, the contestants will:

 

  • Be required to present a 2-3 minute speech on his/her choice related to agriculture and/or the fair.
     

  • Complete a quiz on his/her knowledge of the Parkhill Fair and surrounding Community ( general knowledge, no sweat!)
     

  • Answer an impromptu question
     

The announcement will be made at the Opening Ceremonies of the Parkhill Fair (Friday night)

​​DUTIES OF THE AMBASSADOR

REMEMBER ~ School is your first priority. If you are available to attend monthly meetings & community events that would be great but it's not a deciding factor in choosing who will be our ambassador for 2022.


The selected Parkhill Fair Ambassador must be able to attend the Parkhill Fair for the 3 day weekend with activities assigned throughout those 3 days.

Based on your availability throughout the duration of your reign, the following duties also include:
 

  • Attendance at our District Fair Meeting in November, to attend an ambassador workshop and meet other newly crowned ambassadors within the district.
     

  • Participation in the O.A.A.S. (Ontario Associations of Agricultural Societies) Convention in Toronto in February.
     

  • Compete in the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) Ambassador of the Fairs Competition in August the next year.

 

SPONSORSHIP

All Contestants will receive:

  • A $50 bursary from the Parkhill Agricultural Society

  • A gift from the Municipality of North Middlesex

  • A gift from Grammies Pizza

 

The Runner-Up will also receive:

  • A sash from D & M Trophies

  • A bouquet of flowers from Frontier Flowers

 

The Ambassador will also receive:

  • A $100 bursary form the Parkhill Agricultural Society

  • A tiara and sash from the Parkhill Agricultural Society

  • A bouquet of flowers from Frontier Flowers

  • Other gifts ...to be determined

JUNIOR AMBASSADOR

 

JUNIOR AMBASSADOR COMPETITION


This contest is open to any person 13 to 16 years of age by July 1, 2022.

 

Register via email at parkhillambassador@gmail.com.

 

A written component is required. A minimum of 250 words, double spaced, written or typed, sent to . Tell us what you look forward to at the annual Parkhill Fall Fair. Be sure to include details about your experiences from previous years.


If seeking assistance with your wording, the staff at the Parkhill Library have assured us they will be happy to sit down with you to go over your paperwork.


A social, open to the public, will be held for the contestants towards the end of July. At this time, the contestants will meet the judges, the Fair Ambassador committee, Ambassador contestants, and the Golden Ambassador contestants.


On this evening the contestants will :
 

  • Introduce themselves by saying their name, age, and what school they attend
     

  • What activities/hobbies they enjoy
     

  • Answer one impromptu question regarding: the Fair, Community, or Agriculture
     

  • Prepare an answer to the following question: Why would you be the best choice for the Junior Ambassador for the 2022 Parkhill Fair?

All contestants are expected to attend the Friday Evening Ceremony, where the winner will be announced. The selected Junior Ambassador will be expected to represent the Parkhill Agricultural Society for the 3 day event with activities assigned throughout the weekend.

  • A $25 bursary from the Parkhill Agricultural Society

  • A gift from Grammies Pizza

 

The Runner-Up will also receive:

  • A sash from D & M Trophies

  • A bouquet of flowers from Frontier Flowers

 

The Junior Ambassador will also receive:

  • A $50 bursary form the Parkhill Agricultural Society

  • A sash from D&M Trophies

  • A bouquet of flowers from Frontier Flowers

  • A crown / medal

GOLDEN AMBASSADOR

GOLDEN AMBASSADOR COMPETITION


This contest is open to any person 65 years of age and older as of January 1, 2022.

 

Register via email at parkhillambassador@gmail.com (subject line "Golden Ambassador").

The following information should be included in your entry:

  • Full name and address

  • Telephone number and email

  • Age and your birthday

  • All activities you participate in or have participated in (school, church, community, part-time job, volunteer, 4H, etc.)

A social event, open to the public, will be held for the contestants at the end of July (date to be determined).
At this time the contestants will meet the judges, the Fair Ambassador committee, the Ambassador Contestants, and the Junior Ambassador Contestants.

On this evening, the contestants will:

 

  • Be required to present a 2-3 minute speech/story relating their memories of past Parkhill Fairs.
     

  • Complete a quiz on his/her knowledge of the Parkhill Fair
     

  • Answer an impromptu question
     

The announcement will be made at the Opening Ceremonies of the Parkhill Fair (Friday night).

 

The winner must be available to attend the Parkhill Fair on Saturday for the Baby Show, Prince, Princess, Jr. Prince, Princess, and any other events on the weekend, if available. If there are numerous applications, the number of contestants may be limited. Finalists will be contacted prior to the competition.

  • A $75 bursary form the Parkhill Agricultural Society
